During today’s class we received the set of data from everyone studying this unit. Though the data set was not perfect and there were some errors that needed to be taken out, this initial set of data already gives us an overview of everybody’s activities during the week. We were asked to create a quick data visualisation of the week, so I decided to focus on the main activities of uni attendance, uni study, paid work, streaming, face-to-face interaction, and social media. I was initially not going to include streaming but after seeing how prevalent it was in the lives of students I thought it would be good to compare the occurrence of streaming with the occurrence of socialising and uni work.
I decided to format this in a line graph, with different colours representing each activity.
From this initial visualisation we can begin to see where each activity was predominantly prioritised during the week; we see that uni study begins to drop until it peaks suddenly on Sunday, and we can also observe that when students finish their attendance for the week face-to-face interaction appears. I believe this is an effective visualisation and shows me some different directions I can take this data for my final infographic.
